The LLMrefs logoLLMrefs alternative that turns tracking into client work

On the spec sheet, LLMrefs beats Promptrack at raw tracking: 500 prompts, 11 engines, €20 less. So we paid for an account and ran it in August 2026. Prompts stuck on 'Crawl in progress' for days and a mislabeled brand in the rankings tempered the sheet. The €20 difference buys what agencies bill for: an action plan, white-label client reports, request-level crawler logs and AI referral analytics.

  • €99 flat per month, everything included

  • 200 prompts tracked every week
  • 6 AI engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Claude, Copilot
  • API + MCP included: script it or plug your AI assistant

Why people look for an LLMrefs alternative

You didn't type "llmrefs alternative" for fun. One of these is probably you.

€79 for 11 engines. What's the catch I should look for?

We went looking with a paid account (August 2026) and found two. First, delivery speed: one of our keywords still showed all ten prompts as 'Crawl in progress' five days after its last update, with the rank, position and share-of-voice fields blank. Second, data labeling: on a domain-industry keyword, the rankings listed dropcatch.com under the name 'Tidy Home Cleaning Services'. The price is real and flagged 'Limited time only'; in our test, the tracking had not kept up with the sheet.

My client asks what we did about the rankings, not what they are.

That question is the reason Promptrack exists. Each weekly run produces a scored list of moves, and everything you mark done lands in the client's report as shipped work. A tracker hands you the numbers; the loop hands you the answer to 'what did we pay you for this month'.

I need the report in the client's inbox, not another dashboard.

LLMrefs includes weekly visibility reports, refreshed automatically. What we could not find in the pages we reviewed is a white-label, client-addressed version. Promptrack builds a PDF under your agency's brand and emails it to each client after every run, with CSV attached. Nobody exports anything on Monday morning.

LLMrefs: what you get, what it costs

The quick, sourced version. LLMrefs is a serious tool; the question is whether its pricing model fits an agency.

What LLMrefs does well

  • 11 AI engines included with no per-engine fees, where Promptrack tracks 3
  • 500 tracked prompts at €79: more prompts for less money than Promptrack
  • Unlimited projects and unlimited team members on the single plan
  • Free account without a card, monthly AI prompt volume estimates, and bonus tools like the AI crawlability checker

Where it pinches

  • The €79 price is flagged 'Limited time only' on the pricing page
  • Neither white-label client reporting nor a prioritized action plan is shown in the pages we reviewed
  • Hands-on (August 2026): a keyword's 10 prompts all read 'Crawl in progress' five days after its last update, with the rank, position and share-of-voice fields blank
  • Hands-on (August 2026): on a domain-industry keyword, the rankings listed dropcatch.com as 'Tidy Home Cleaning Services', an unrelated brand label
  • Crawler coverage is an 'AI crawlability checker' bonus tool; request-level crawler logs are not shown in the pages we reviewed

Buyer questions, tracked end to end

LLMrefs starts from keywords and fans them out. Promptrack tracks the buyer questions themselves, generated from your market's real search data, and each one carries rank, sentiment and the exact cited sentence per engine. What you see is what a prospect was told.

Every rival AI names, with the receipts

The competitor board ranks every brand the engines mention on your prompts, declared or not: share of voice, average position, sentiment. One click opens the sentence behind any mention. It answers the client question 'who is beating us, and where'.

What to do next, decided by the data

Tracking tells you where you stand; the action plan tells you what moves the number. After each run, Promptrack writes the week's priorities with estimated visibility gains: the thread to answer, the source to pitch, the gap to close. Done items feed the client report.

The client report writes and sends itself

Your agency's name, color and logo on the cover; inside, the deltas, the movements and the work you shipped. Promptrack builds the PDF after every weekly run and emails it to each client. The deliverable exists whether or not you opened the dashboard that week.

Proof in sessions, not screenshots

A one-line snippet on the client site counts the visits AI engines actually refer: engine, landing page, week-over-week trend. When the retainer discussion turns to results, you bring their own traffic data instead of a ranking screenshot.

The server-side view of AI reading you

Promptrack logs every request GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and 24 other crawlers make against a site, then cross-checks crawled pages with the pages AI answers cite. It is evidence at the request level, not a one-off site audit.

Common questions

Is Promptrack cheaper than LLMrefs?

No. LLMrefs is €79 against €99, tracks 500 prompts against our 200, and covers 11 engines against our 3 (verified August 2026). If raw tracking numbers decide your choice, LLMrefs wins on all three, on paper. Our hands-on test (see the cons above, screenshots included) is why we add the qualifier. The €20 difference pays for the delivery layer: the action plan, the white-label report in each client's inbox, the crawler logs and the AI traffic analytics.

What does LLMrefs have that Promptrack does not?

A wider engine list (Gemini, Grok, Copilot, DeepSeek and Meta among them), 500 tracked prompts, monthly AI prompt volume estimates for sizing topics, a free account without a card, and bonus tools like the crawlability checker and Reddit threads finder. On paper it is hard to fault at the price; our own test left us more careful with that sentence, between prompts still showing 'Crawl in progress' five days after the last update and a mislabeled brand in the rankings.

When should I stay with LLMrefs?

Honest answer: if engines Promptrack doesn't cover yet, like Gemini or Grok, are non-negotiable for your clients, the spec is unmatched at €79 and the free account makes checking it yourself easy. Our verdict from this August 2026 test: at €79, we did not think the product was worth the price, and we keep the screenshots from that test on file. Promptrack earns its €20 premium the day you show a client what the tracking led to.

Can I try Promptrack while keeping LLMrefs?

Yes, and the rhythm makes it simple: both work in weekly cycles. Import your prompts (up to 50 at a time), let one full cycle finish, then compare Mondays: a refreshed visibility report on one side, a branded PDF in your client's inbox plus a scored to-do list on the other. Trial is 7 days, card required, nothing charged before day 7.
